Job Description

Tallgrass Creek by Erickson Senior Living is a premier continuing care retirement community located on 65 beautiful acres in Overland Park, Kansas, just minutes from the Kansas-Missouri border. As part of Erickson Senior Living, one of the largest and most respected senior living and health care providers nationally, Tallgrass Creek is dedicated to offering a vibrant lifestyle, financial stability, and focused health and well-being services to its residents. The community prides itself on fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging, aligning with its mission, vision, and values to ensure each person living and working there thrives in a supportive environment. Erickson Senior Living emphasizes work-life balance and offers opportunities for personal and professional growth, making it an ideal place for employees to build meaningful careers within the senior living industry.

The role of Communications Specialist (Front Desk) at Tallgrass Creek is a pivotal position central to the community’s daily operations and resident experience. This role serves as the first point of contact for residents, family members, visitors, and candidates, setting the tone for all interactions. With a schedule spanning afternoons and evenings on both weekdays and weekends, the Communications Specialist provides courteous and efficient communication, handling inquiries, directing individuals appropriately, and ensuring a warm, welcoming environment at all times. Starting compensation is $16.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, reflecting the value placed on this front-facing role.

In addition to greeting and directing residents and visitors, the Communications Specialist is responsible for managing critical emergency communications, including receiving emergency calls and dispatching appropriate personnel calmly and accurately. They monitor emergency pull cords for independent living residents, keep track of resident status during incidents, and maintain vital census and hospitalization records. Administrative duties include managing resident lists, logging and notifying residents of package arrivals, handling mail and inter-office correspondence, and supporting the overall efficient operation of the community. This position requires excellent multi-tasking abilities, strong verbal communication skills, and prior receptionist experience to meet the demands of a dynamic, resident-focused environment.

The position offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage with wellness reimbursements and telemedicine options, paid time off, company-sponsored volunteer hours, a 401k retirement plan with a company match, onsite medical centers, food and beverage discounts, and professional growth opportunities including education assistance and certification reimbursements. As a member of Erickson Senior Living, employees are welcomed into a culture that values diverse backgrounds and ensures an inclusive, nondiscriminatory workplace.
