The role of Front Desk Associate at Katz Eye Center is critical in maintaining efficient operations and enhancing patient experiences. As the primary point of contact for patients, both in person and via telephone, the Front Desk Associate embodies professionalism and exemplary customer service skills. This position is responsible for interviewing patients or their representatives to collect complete and accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information essential for billing and account management. The Front Desk Associate performs various clerical duties including answering multiple phone lines, scheduling appointments, processing medical record requests, entering patient information into digital systems, and accepting payments. Coordination with clinical staff is essential to ensure a seamless and positive patient journey from check-in to post-appointment follow-up. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle patient communications through multiple channels such as phone calls, email, fax, and messaging portals like Solution Reach Conversations. Candidates should demonstrate a strong desire to assist others, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while upholding the professional image of Katz Eye Center. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office/health care setting
  • Minimum 2 years of health care insurance experience
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills with a minimum typing speed of 30 WPM
  • Strong desire to assist others and provide excellent customer service
  • Must be highly dependable and organized
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Impeccably clean, polished, professional image
  • Ability to learn quickly, retain training, problem solve and think independently

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Displays high level of professionalism and gives superb customer service
  • Obtains and reviews patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy
  • Verifies insurance and collects copays, co-insurance, and outstanding balances
  • Ensures all patient intake forms are signed and complete
  • Answers patient communication pathways including multiple phone lines, Solution Reach Conversations Messaging Portal, and email/fax
  • Schedules appointments
  • Processes medical record requests per policies and procedures
  • Coordinates with clinical staff to ensure optimal patient experience
