The Front Desk Agent is responsible for greeting guests warmly upon arrival, managing check-ins and check-outs promptly and professionally, and assisting with reservation processes, including pre-registration and room blocking when necessary. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of the hotel's front office system, both computer-based and manual, covering all daily transactions and occasional procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Handling financial transactions with guests, including cash, checks, and credit card payments, is also a key responsibility. The Front Desk Agent must be familiar with hotel rates, discounts, and various procedures related to reservations and cancellations. The position requires someone who can handle same-day reservations quickly and accurately, adhering to company policies at all times.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hotel front desk or related customer service role preferred
  • Ability to work varying schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High work ethic and self-initiative
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • Proficiency with front office computer or manual systems

Job Qualifications

  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Knowledge of hotel reservation systems preferred
  • Ability to handle cash and perform basic math accurately

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
  • Promptly, accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
  • Have complete working knowledge of Front Office computer or manual system, including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
  • Accurately manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
  • Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
  • Have knowledge of hotel rates, discounts and how to handle each
  • Have working knowledge of reservations and procedures, including how to take same day reservations
  • Should be able to take reservations in approximately 2 minutes
  • Know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
