The Front Desk Agent role is a vital position within our hotel operations, acting as the primary point of contact between the hotel and its guests. This full-time in-office position involves greeting and checking in guests with professionalism and friendliness, ensuring a seamless guest experience from arrival to departure. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the hotel's front office system, including managing reservations, posting charges accurately, and handling cash and credit transactions efficiently. This position requires excellent communication skills to effectively address guest needs, respond to special requests, and coordinate room assignments. Physical aspects of the role include prolonged periods of sitting, occasional walking and standing, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed. The successful candidate must be adaptable to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, showcasing high work ethic and self-initiative while being a cooperative team player. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in front desk operations or customer service
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle cash, credit cards and other payment methods accurately
  • Ability to use computer systems for reservations and transactions
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to sit for prolonged periods, stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift 10-25 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to work as part of a team providing great guest experiences

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a front desk or guest service role preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Familiarity with hotel front desk software is a plus
  • Ability to work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Basic cash handling experience

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
  • Promptly, accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
  • Have complete working knowledge of Front Office computer or manual system, including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
  • Accurately manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
  • Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
  • Have knowledge of hotel rates, discounts and how to handle each
  • Have working knowledge of reservations and procedures, including how to take same day reservations
  • Should be able to take reservations in approximately 2 minutes
  • Know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
