The Front Desk Agent will be responsible for greeting and communicating cordially with guests, handling check-ins and check-outs efficiently and professionally. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of the hotel's reservation system, including the ability to block reservations, manage cancellations, and accommodate special requests. The agent must also handle all guest charges accurately using the front office computer or manual systems and manage cash, checks, and credit card payments responsibly. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented with excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. The ability to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential. Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting, occasional standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hospitality or front desk role preferred
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day
  • Occasional standing and walking
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for keyboarding and office equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items occasionally
  • Ability to lift or move 10-25 pounds
  • Visual ability to read from computer screens and printed materials for extended periods
  • Auditory ability to participate in conversations and meetings using phone or headset
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
  • Promptly, accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
  • Have complete working knowledge of Front Office computer or manual system, including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
  • Accurately manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
  • Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
  • Have knowledge of hotel rates, discounts and how to handle each
  • Have working knowledge of reservations and procedures, including how to take same day reservations
  • Should be able to take reservations in approximately 2 minutes
  • Know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
