We are currently seeking a Front Desk Associate to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves being the first point of contact for guests, responsible for greeting and communicating cordially to deliver an outstanding check-in and check-out experience. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of front office operations, including pre-registration, reservation management, and accurate posting of charges. This role requires proficiency in handling various payment methods, including cash, checks, and credit cards, with meticulous attention to detail to ensure correct processing.

The Front Desk Associate must possess comprehensive knowledge of the hotel's reservation systems, including the ability to handle same-day bookings efficiently, process cancellations, and manage room relocations as necessary. Attention to guest requests and the capability to block rooms in accordance with special reservation requirements are essential. Additionally, having a solid grasp of hotel rates and applicable discounts is critical for accurate billing and guest satisfaction.

This position demands strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work well as part of a team, and a high level of self-initiative. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be willing to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous excellent service. Physical demands of the job include prolonged periods of sitting with frequent fine motor activity such as typing and computer use, occasional standing, walking, bending, and the ability to lift light items as needed.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • strong work ethic and self-initiative
  • ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • physical ability to work in a standard office environment
  • prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • occasional standing and walking throughout the workday
  • frequent fine motor skills for keyboarding, typing and using office equipment
  • occasional ability to stand, walk, bend, reach or carry items
  • ability to lift and/or move 10-25 pounds as needed
  • visual ability to read from computer screens and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation
  • ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in hotel front desk or customer service preferred
  • strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • proficiency in computer systems and office equipment
  • ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel
  • assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary
  • promptly, accurately and efficiently know how and where to post all charges
  • have complete working knowledge of Front Office computer or manual system, including all daily transactions and those which are not performed often
  • accurately manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly
  • review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly
  • have knowledge of hotel rates, discounts and how to handle each
  • have working knowledge of reservations and procedures, including how to take same day reservations
  • know and follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary
