In addition, the role requires maintaining accurate and up-to-date records related to room availability, guest accounts, and reservations. This administrative aspect is critical in ensuring smooth operation and guest satisfaction. Handling financial transactions accurately and securely, including computing bills, collecting payment, and making change, is a vital function that also involves enforcing hotel credit policies and managing cash deposits.

The position may also involve functioning in a lead capacity, which includes managing and assigning tasks to other employees, ensuring their performance aligns with company standards, especially in the absence of supervisors. There is occasional responsibility for reservation arrangement for dining, entertainment, or transportation, along with safeguarding guest valuables.

Physical and working condition requirements indicate that the role involves both sitting and standing for extended periods, manual dexterity for operating a switchboard or computer, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. The job necessitates comfort working in close proximity to others and flexibility to work irregular or overtime hours.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three months’ experience in hospitality, general office, accounts receivable, or customer service fields. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Greet register and assign rooms to guests
  • Issue room keys and escort instructions without announcing room numbers
  • Answer inquiries regarding hotel services and local amenities
  • Keep records of room availability and guest accounts
  • Make confirm and cancel reservations
  • Compute bills collect payment and make change
  • Post charges for room food liquor or telephone
  • Date-stamp sort and rack incoming mail and messages
  • Transmit and receive messages using telephone fax and switchboard
  • Enforce hotel credit policies and account for all cash deposits
  • Greet guests in a friendly and warm manner
  • Lead assigned employees in the absence of the Supervisor
  • Assign work and ensure proper employee performance
  • Make restaurant transportation or entertainment reservations
  • Deposit guests valuables in hotel safe or safe-deposit box
  • Order complimentary flowers or champagne for special guests
  • Perform other duties as assigned
