Job Description
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts stands as the world’s first and most expansive luxury hotel brand, having pioneered international travel since the 1940s. With its roots deeply embedded in sharing renowned international expertise and cultural wisdom, the establishment offers truly impressive surroundings where travelers can indulge in a rich blend of culture and comfort. The brand takes pride in being genuine ambassadors of sophisticated hospitality, driven by a passion for travel, culture, and an appreciation of diversity. Its mission is to create inspiring and unforgettable experiences for guests seeking a deeper and richer perspective on the world. Their global presence and commitment to excellence make InterContinental Hotels & Resorts a prestigious and highly sought-after employer in the hospitality industry.
The role of Front Desk Agent at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is pivotal in delivering the exceptional experience that defines the brand. As the first point of contact for guests, this role is much more than administrative—it’s about creating a genuine, warm welcome that sets the tone for an extraordinary stay. Front Desk Agents are responsible for handling guest transactions with care and efficiency, managing bookings, up-selling services, and providing local insights to enhance each guest’s experience. This position demands a proactive approach to anticipating and fulfilling guest needs while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and hospitality.
In this role, you will manage check-ins and check-outs seamlessly, ensure the secure handling of cash and credit transactions, and maintain the safety and security of guests’ belongings, including controlling and releasing safety deposit boxes. Your ability to communicate clearly and empathetically is essential, as guests will turn to you with both concerns and compliments. Additionally, you will be expected to efficiently resolve any issues that arise, turning potential problems into opportunities for positive guest interaction.
The work environment is dynamic and requires flexibility, including night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Physical stamina is also necessary, as the job may require lifting and moving objects up to 50lbs, which can involve bending and kneeling. Being tech-savvy is crucial, as you will use various digital tools and systems to manage bookings and guest requests.
As an ambassador of the InterContinental brand, your appearance and demeanor will reflect the company’s values and standards. Staying informed about daily events and activities within the hotel is important, ensuring that guests receive the most up-to-date information to enrich their stay. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with colleagues, ready to assist with ad-hoc duties when needed, fostering a cooperative and supportive team atmosphere.
The company offers a genuine opportunity to be part of a renowned, international luxury brand where you can develop your career in hospitality. While previous experience in a front desk or guest service role of at least one year is preferred, InterContinental values attitude and potential as much as qualifications. If you have a high school diploma or equivalent, a passion for serving guests, and a willingness to learn, you are encouraged to apply and begin your journey with a global leader in luxury hospitality.
