Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous hotel-related experience preferred
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • ability to communicate professionally with guests and staff
  • knowledge of local area and events
  • understanding of proper payment methods
  • proficiency in securing guest information
  • ability to learn safety and emergency procedures
  • skilled in front office equipment
  • knowledge of telephone etiquette
  • willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • maintains an inventory of vacancies, reservations and room assignments
  • possesses a working knowledge of the reservations department
  • takes same day reservations and future reservations when necessary
  • knows cancellation procedures
  • knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates
  • registers arriving guests and assigns rooms
  • coordinates room status updates with housekeeping
  • coordinates guest room maintenance work
  • uses persuasive selling techniques to promote rooms and other services
  • knows daily hotel activities and meetings
  • reports unusual occurrences to manager
  • manages and resolves guest complaints
  • processes guest check-outs and handles monetary transactions
  • maintains customers' privacy
  • maintains a professional appearance and demeanor
  • communicates pertinent information to colleagues and department heads
  • responsible for neat and orderly workspace
  • performs other duties as assigned
