The Front Desk Agent at Hotel Verdant plays a pivotal role in maintaining the hotel's reputation for outstanding guest experiences. This position is responsible for providing quality guest services including registration and check-out, managing PBX operations, and overseeing mail and message services. The Front Desk Agent ensures that all daily accounting procedures are accurate and that hospitality standards such as eye contact, smiling, engaging in polite conversation, and using guests’ surnames are consistently upheld. This role requires a high level of professionalism, confidence, and a welcoming demeanor to make guests feel valued from the moment they arrive until their departure.

The Front Desk Agent's duties extend beyond basic check-in and check-out. They handle pre-assignment of rooms, accommodating special requests for VIPs, repeat guests, and any packages, ensuring personalized service. The agent must be knowledgeable about the hotel's immediate area, including services, attractions, and events, often assisting guests with concierge services. Additionally, the role involves managing room availability, monitoring the hotel's selling status using a yield management system, and coordinating with other departments such as Sales, Housekeeping, Bell Staff, and Valet to provide seamless guest satisfaction.

This role also demands adherence to security and safety protocols, including following established key control policies, knowledge of fire and emergency procedures, and managing lost and found items properly. The Front Desk Agent is responsible for balancing the daily shift bank by accurately counting and verifying cash, check, and credit card transactions. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to operate Property Management System, capture email, and use PBX system
  • Accountability for balancing daily shift bank
  • Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear regularly
  • Ability to use hands to handle objects and controls

Job Duties

  • Provide high level of customer service
  • Conduct pre-assignment of hotel rooms including VIPs, repeat guests, all packages, and special requests
  • Check in and out hotel guests in a confident, professional, and friendly manner
  • Answer all phone calls promptly and knowledgeably with complete and accurate information
  • Complete all items on appropriate shift checklists by end of shift
  • Follow established key control policy
  • Ensure front desk employees are well presented
  • Ensure proper credit policies are followed and verify credit limit report
  • Submit all lost and found articles with completed reports
  • Be knowledgeable of area services, attractions, and events and assist with concierge services
  • Be knowledgeable of fire and emergency procedures
  • Open, secure, and balance out daily shift bank including cash, check, and credit card transactions
  • Monitor room availability throughout the day
  • Review daily selling status of the hotel using yield management system
  • Attend monthly department meetings
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction
