The Front Desk Agent at Aloft Leawood - Overland Park plays a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring a friendly, efficient, and hospitable arrival and departure process. The essential goal of this position is to greet guests with warmth and professionalism, handle all guest requests promptly, and maintain an inviting hotel environment by upholding MCR’s core standards of cleanliness, friendliness, teamwork, and product quality. This role requires attention to detail in managing guest services, maintaining operational checklists, and supporting seamless shift handovers with accurate reporting.
The Front Desk Agent is entrusted with responsibilities that include monitoring guest satisfaction, resolving guest concerns with hospitality and urgency, and ensuring familiarity with hotel amenities and services. The role involves managing the check-in and check-out processes efficiently, keeping pace with room rate schedules and promotions, and overseeing incoming mail as part of daily shift duties. Collaboration and effective communication within the team are emphasized to foster an environment of cooperation and positive workplace culture.
Physical demands of this role include standing for extended periods, performing data entry, maneuvering light equipment and supplies, and maintaining vigilance in cleanliness and guest observation to ensure safety and order within the hotel. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in hospitality, service or related customer-facing roles preferred
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow established guidelines and procedures
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong listening and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to hospitality and guest service
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Availability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends
- Punctuality in clocking in and out for shifts and breaks
- Ability to provide advance notice for absences
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, type, bend, stoop, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds
Job Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality, service, consumer-facing franchise or related field preferred
- Positive can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to understand and follow established guidelines and procedures
- Ability to work well under stressful, high-pressure situations
- Effective listening, conflict resolution, and communication skills
- Desire and commitment to provide excellent hospitality and guest service
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Willingness to work varied schedules including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to arrive and clock in on time for every shift and comply with break schedules
- Ability to provide sufficient notice when calling out of scheduled shifts
Job Duties
- Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile
- Use guests' names whenever possible to ensure they feel welcomed
- Work together with team members to contribute to high guest satisfaction scores
- Handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and urgency
- Maintain strong knowledge of hotel features and amenities
- Support hotel groups and events with awareness and assistance
- Answer all incoming calls with friendly service using approved greetings
- Keep all workspaces clean, organized, and safe
- Assist in cleaning guest rooms and public spaces as needed
- Greet every guest happily while performing cleaning duties
- Complete all operational checklists accurately and on time
- Prepare accurate and timely shift handover reports
- Wear clean, approved uniforms, be well-groomed, and wear a nametag at all times
- Communicate clearly, honestly, and professionally with team members
- Demonstrate a can-do attitude by stretching beyond traditional roles
- Collaborate with all team members to create a welcoming environment
- Ensure all guests are checked in and out efficiently
- Contact guests after check-in to confirm room satisfaction
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of room rates and promotions
- Receive and note incoming mail as required per shift checklist
