Job Description
This job opening is for a Front Desk Associate position at a hotel located in Marion, Arkansas, owned and operated by the independent franchisee Yogi-Mahesh Corporation. This franchisee operates independently from Marriott International, Inc., and is solely responsible for all aspects of employment policies and practices including hiring, firing, staffing, compensation, and benefits. Candidates employed at this hotel will work directly for the franchisee rather than the Marriott corporate entity. The hotel operates in the hospitality industry, focusing on providing comfortable and welcoming lodging experiences for its guests. The location is a well-maintained property that aims for exceptional customer service and efficient hotel management. Being a full-time, non-management position, the role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $10 to $12 per hour, including opportunities for overtime and holiday pay. Employees are also eligible for Marriott discounted stays, enhancing employee benefits with travel perks.
The role of the Front Desk Associate is critical in delivering a positive guest experience from the moment guests enter the hotel. Front Desk Associates serve as the primary point of contact for guests, managing the check-in and check-out process in a warm, friendly, and professional manner. Employees in this role are responsible for accurately handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions to ensure smooth billing and payment processes. This requires attention to detail and adherence to established policies regarding cash handling and authorization of credit cards using electronic methods. The associate ensures all guest information and room status updates are maintained correctly and communicates effectively with other hotel departments to coordinate services and meet guest needs.
Besides managing reception duties, the Front Desk Associate also plays an active role in enhancing customer service by addressing guest inquiries, resolving complaints within outlined guidelines, and delivering guest messages, mail, and packages promptly. The position involves operational tasks such as operating front desk equipment including switchboard and property management system (PMS), completing shift paperwork, and maintaining inventory for the hotel's Suite Shop and Market. The associate may also assist in general lobby upkeep and monitoring the breakfast bar to support a clean and welcoming environment.
Overall, this position requires excellent communication skills to handle difficult or emotional client situations, strong time management capabilities to prioritize tasks efficiently, and a customer-focused approach to ensure guest satisfaction. It offers a vibrant hotel work environment where employees can grow their skills in hospitality, operations, and customer service while benefiting from competitive pay and employee perks. This position is ideal for individuals motivated by service excellence and who enjoy working directly with guests in a dynamic hotel setting.
