This job opportunity is for the position of Front Desk Associate at IHG Hotels & Resorts. The role involves a range of front office responsibilities essential to delivering excellent guest experiences. The associate is responsible for processing cash and credit transactions accurately, managing guest safe-deposit boxes, and actively promoting room upselling to optimize hotel revenue. The position requires strong interpersonal skills as it involves direct interaction with guests, including answering phones promptly, welcoming guests courteously, registering arrivals, and responding effectively to guest complaints. Additionally, the role includes booking reservations, making necessary adjustments, and coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Primary duties extend to ensuring that guest requests and issues are properly communicated to management for follow-up, thus maintaining high standards of guest satisfaction. The associate will also engage in teamwork and contribute to promoting quality service through communication with other departments. Additional responsibilities include providing concierge services, conducting guest room tours, and handling special guest requests which enhance the overall guest experience.
The role demands the capability to work in a dynamic hotel environment with flexibility to handle night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, lifting items up to 50 lbs, and proficient use of computer systems for property management and reservations. Employees must demonstrate strong communication, reading, writing, basic math, problem-solving, motivating, and training skills. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, qualifying for overtime.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from 27.15 to 33.94 dollars depending on experience and qualifications. Job Duties
- Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures including posting all charges, completing cashier and other reports, preparing deposit, and counting/securing assigned bank
- Issue, control and release guest safe-deposit boxes
- Up-sell rooms where possible to maximize hotel revenue
- Answer phones in a prompt and courteous manner
- Welcome guests in a friendly, prompt and professional manner
- Register guests, issue room keys, provide information on hotel services and room location
- Communicate any outstanding guest requests or issues to management that may require additional monitoring or follow-up
- Respond appropriately to guest complaints and make appropriate service recovery gestures to ensure total guest satisfaction
- Routinely book guest reservations for individuals and/or groups, process cancellations, revisions, and updates
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
- Perform other duties as assigned including guest room tours, concierge services, special guest requests
