Job Description

Hotel Magdalena is a distinctive hotel located in Texas, known for its unique integration with the local culture and environment. This 89-room hotel draws inspiration from the laid-back lake house ethos of the 1970s, nestled amidst rolling grounds and the natural beauty characteristic of Texas. The hotel serves as a sanctuary that honors the spring-fed culture of the area, a place where life gathers around water, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere for guests. Beyond its accommodations, Hotel Magdalena offers vibrant social hubs such as Summer House on Music Lane and the Magdalena Bar, which are gathering spots not only for guests but for locals as well. These venues enhance the experience by offering a slice of the best that Austin has to offer just off South Congress Avenue.

Hotel Magdalena is a proud member of the Bunkhouse family, a notable hospitality company with a focus on design, music, and creating authentic community-driven experiences. Bunkhouse owns an impressive portfolio of well-regarded hospitality properties across the United States and Mexico, including renowned establishments like Hotel San José, Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin Motel, Jo’s Coffee, and many more. Each property brings a unique flavor representative of its locale, backed by Bunkhouse’s commitment to quality and innovation in the hospitality space. The company is poised for further growth, with plans to expand and develop new projects in the U.S. and Mexico, showcasing its influence and footprint in the industry.

The Front Desk Agent role at Hotel Magdalena involves providing exceptional guest services that surpass visitor expectations. This role is multifaceted, covering essential responsibilities such as telephone operations, checking guests in and out efficiently and professionally, taking reservations, managing inventory control, and executing concierge services. Concierge duties are broad and dynamic, including assisting guests with transportation, dining reservations, floral and amenity requests, grocery shopping, booking tee times, spa services, planning hiking excursions, arranging children’s programs and babysitting, coordinating water recreation, tennis, golf instruction, biking, managing goods like beverages and VIP packages, and facilitating special events.

This position is not only about managing front desk operations but also about creating memorable experiences that encourage guests to return and recommend Hotel Magdalena to others. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, proficiency with property management systems, and an ability to multitask in a lively environment. They will be adept at handling guest inquiries and concerns promptly, maintaining effective communication with other departments, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment. Additionally, this role requires flexibility to undertake various tasks as needed to meet fluctuating operational demands and exceed customer expectations.

Hotel Magdalena and Bunkhouse value diversity and are equal opportunity employers committed to building a workforce that reflects inclusivity. The employment package includes a competitive salary and benefits for employees working 30 hours or more per week, emphasizing a supportive work culture that encourages creativity and individuality.
