Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hotel front desk or guest services preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency with hotel management systems
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Ability to handle cash and payment transactions accurately
  • Willingness to work as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Greet guests and complete the registration process including inputting and retrieving information, confirming guest information and room rates, selecting rooms, coding electronic keys, promoting marketing programs, providing welcome packets and ensuring guests know their room location or have bell person assistance
  • Assist guests with check-out by ensuring rooms and services are correctly accounted for, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards, accepting and recording various forms of payment, converting foreign currency, making change and processing gift certificates and cards
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of hotel information including room categories, room rates, packages, promotions, the local area and other general product knowledge to answer guest questions and inquiries
  • Use upselling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities and maximize room occupancy
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve issues promptly, in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Field guest complaints, conduct research to resolve and negotiate solutions for guest satisfaction
  • Receive, input, retrieve and relay messages to guests
