Job Description
A warm and active private family located between Manhattan and Long Island, New York, is seeking a dedicated and professional full-time live-in housekeeper. The family operates a busy household environment and requires a highly capable individual who is proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fully staffed home. This full-time position follows a unique schedule from Friday through Monday, approximately from 7 am to 8 pm, with a one-hour daily break. The individual will be working 12-hour days, totaling about 48 hours per week. The salary for this position is competitive, ranging from $45 to $50 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role and the expertise required.
The family primarily speaks Spanish, so fluency in Spanish is essential for successful communication and integration within the household. The residences are split between Manhattan and Long Island, meaning the housekeeper will need to be flexible in supporting both locations regularly. This role demands a candidate who not only possesses strong housekeeping skills but is also confident in the kitchen, as cooking daily meals for a large family is a fundamental part of the responsibilities. The housekeeper will contribute to an environment that values warm, proactive, and detail-oriented teamwork alongside other household staff members.
The ideal candidate will enjoy managing a dynamic household with a calm and team-oriented personality. They will thrive working in both formal and relaxed family settings, consistently maintaining a welcoming and well-run home. This is a long-term opportunity for a housekeeper looking to embed themselves into a family environment where professionalism, discretion, and adaptability are key. The role involves live-in responsibilities during working days to ensure flexibility and seamless household support, although the candidate will return to their own home on days off.
This position requires someone able to manage a range of duties including maintaining cleanliness and organization, assisting with household inventory, providing occasional childcare support alongside the family’s nanny, and adapting to the family’s changing schedules and multiple residences. This is a unique opportunity to work with a private family who values loyalty, a positive attitude, and a genuine enjoyment of creating a comforting living environment. The commitment toward excellence and a collaborative spirit within the household staff are essential qualities for success in this role.
