Job Description

Founded in London in 2009, Sofar Sounds is a pioneering live music and events company that has revolutionized the way audiences and artists connect. Originally conceived as a solution to the diminishing magic of live music, Sofar Sounds has grown into a vibrant global movement that celebrates not just music but extends into comedy, singles, dance, and more. The company is recognized internationally for discovering rising talent and providing a unique platform where emerging artists perform in intimate, unexpected spaces such as museum rooms, private living rooms, gardens, and rooftops. Sofar Sounds provides an unparalleled live experience that invites audiences to be fully present, away from the distractions of typical concerts, thereby breathing new life into live entertainment.

Many now-renowned artists such as Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, Olivia Dean, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier, and Lola Young have played at Sofar shows early in their careers. Sofar empowers these artists by handling all the logistics including booking, promotion, and audience engagement, allowing performers to focus completely on their craft. The company also connects artists with an ecosystem that includes brand partnerships, a powerful content engine, and global media placements, further amplifying their reach and success.

The role available is that of a Freelance Pop Culture Events Producer, designed for someone who is passionate about creating culturally relevant live experiences that resonate deeply with engaged fan communities. As a Pop Culture Events Producer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, curating, producing, and promoting events inspired by the latest cultural moments, fandoms, and media obsessions. These events might include artist singalongs, film-themed performances, immersive gatherings connected to iconic franchises, viral internet trends, or major releases like award shows or album drops. Your creativity and cultural insight will help shape experiences that are timely, exciting, and driven by what fans are currently passionate about.

This is an entrepreneurial freelance, commission-based role offering flexibility and ownership, perfect for self-starters who want to lead how Sofar shows up in their local markets. While the working hours are self-directed, a significant portion of the work involves evenings and weekends, aligning with the timing of live events and community activations. The role encompasses every aspect of event management from planning and curation to marketing, promotion, and execution. You will be supported throughout by Sofar’s Global Communities team, gaining access to valuable training, collaborative resources, and networking opportunities with producers worldwide.

Sofar Sounds values cultural fluency, trend-awareness, and community connection. The ideal candidate is someone who tracks global and national pop culture trends across multiple platforms and communities, someone who understands which cultural moments truly engage audiences and have ticket-selling potential. You will prove your entrepreneurial spirit by launching and growing Sofar’s pop culture programming locally, leveraging creative marketing strategies to build and sustain enthusiastic fan engagement. Collaborating with performers, venues, creative partners, and fan communities, you will build a network that enhances your event themes and presence. You will also work closely with other producers and the global team, contributing insights and helping shape the overall pop culture programming of Sofar.

In summary, this role offers an exciting chance to be at the forefront of live cultural experiences, connecting fans with the moments and communities they love through innovative event production. If you thrive in flexible, creative environments and are passionate about pop culture and live events, this role is an excellent opportunity to bring your vision to life with the support of a globally recognized brand.
