Job Description
The Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice in New York City is spearheading a transformative initiative known as Next Mile NYC, aimed at providing justice-involved individuals with meaningful career opportunities. This program is specifically designed to support New Yorkers who have experienced arrest, probation, parole, or incarceration by offering comprehensive CDL (Commercial Driver's License) training at no cost. The program is operated by Emerge Career, a dedicated organization that specializes in mentoring and guiding participants through every step of the CDL training and employment process.

Job Requirements
- Live in the 5 boroughs of NYC
- Experienced arrest, probation, parole, or incarceration
- Active driver's license required
- Maximum of one DUI with none within the last 3 years
- No major traffic violations in the past 3 years
- No pending criminal cases
- Eligibility determined on a case-by-case basis
Job Qualifications
- Must have an active driver's license
- Must reside in one of New York City's five boroughs
- Experienced arrest, probation, parole, or incarceration history
- No more than one DUI with no DUIs in the past three years
- No major traffic violations in the last three years
- No pending criminal cases
- Eligibility determined on a case-by-case basis
Job Duties
- Apply online and complete Emerge Career's application
- Complete a self-paced, 25-hour online CDL permit course
- Prepare for and take the CDL permit exam
- Participate in an enrollment interview to discuss career goals and availability
- Attend partner trucking schools for hands-on training
- Successfully earn a Commercial Driver's License
- Work with Emerge Career to secure job placement with second-chance employers
