The role at Ghirardelli involves becoming a vital part of the team responsible for delivering outstanding guest service and maintaining the high standards associated with the Ghirardelli brand. The employee will be expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of all products, pricing, and company history to effectively assist guests and enhance their experience through informed recommendations and up-selling. The role requires adherence to strict food safety guidelines and cleanliness standards, ensuring that all table tops, serve ware, floors, and trash receptacles are maintained in pristine condition. Additionally, the employee will manage stock levels of fountain and condiment supplies both on the sales floor and behind the scenes, as well as maintain storerooms, coolers, and freezers in an organized and sanitary manner.

Attention to detail is critical in this position, as is the ability to maintain guest and employee washing facilities in top condition. Responsibilities include setting up, maintaining, and breaking down the fountain area daily and replenishing toppings and various fountain items while minimizing food waste. The employee must also keep knowledge of all fountain products and their required preparation up to date. Flexibility is key, as the role involves working as a “Topper” or “Scooper” when needed and performing semi-table service duties to enhance overall guest satisfaction. Strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and within a diverse team, and superb time management skills are essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate must maintain a pleasant demeanor and consistently deliver superior guest service, representing Ghirardelli’s commitment to excellence and innovation in every customer interaction.

Job Duties

  • Provide exceptional guest service
  • maintain detailed knowledge of all products, pricing, and company history
  • utilize knowledge of products and pricing to satisfy guest inquiries and create up-sell opportunities
  • follow food safety guidelines and maintain all table tops, serve ware, floors and trash receptacles in a clean and sanitary condition
  • keep all fountain and condiment supplies both on the sales floor and behind the fountain area stocked and in good condition
  • maintain the storerooms, coolers, and freezers in a clean and orderly fashion
  • clean windows and mirrors when they appear smudged or soiled or when directed by a supervisor or manager
  • maintain guest and employee washing facilities in good working order and in a clean, sanitary condition
  • properly set up, maintain, and break down fountain area
  • replenish toppings and various fountain items throughout the day as needed and minimize or eliminate food waste
  • maintain the proper level and all required ice cream flavors
  • keep knowledge level current of all fountain products and their required preparation
  • work as a “topper” or “scooper” as needed
  • perform “semi-table service” function as part of overall guest satisfaction
