The Forklift Operator position at Novolex, based in Romeoville, is currently open and hiring immediately. This role is crucial to supporting the company’s warehouse operations during the 6PM to 6AM shift, on a 223 schedule. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing and logistics environment with a leading industry player. The role offers an attractive starting pay of $21.32 per hour plus a $1.50 per hour shift differential, coupled with a $750 sign-on bonus. Employees are also eligible for the pay for skill program designed to reward increased expertise and proficiency. Forklift Operators are responsible for operating equipment including forklifts, clamp lifts, barcode readers, and other safety devices to efficiently move materials as per the material movement orders. The role includes cycle counting support, physical inventory assistance for finished goods and non-poly materials, recycling support, and various tasks related to packaging and product handling such as repacking, labeling, stretch wrapping, and hand stacking. Excellence in housekeeping duties including inventory consolidation, material reclaim, and scrap management is also expected.
Candidates should demonstrate proven experience working within a fast-paced warehouse or logistics setting with expertise in sit-down forklift truck operation. Familiarity with RF barcode readers and vehicle-mounted computer systems is preferred. The position demands strong communication skills in English, basic math proficiency, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Completion of a forklift certification program within 90 days of placement is mandatory, along with certification in Lockout/Tag Out procedures and forklift operation. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 years recent forklift experience preferred
- Must have or be able to successfully complete forklift certification program within 90 days
- Ability to complete certification manual
- Must be able to work night shifts 6PM to 6AM on a 223 schedule
- Ability to work in fast paced manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Must be certified in Lockout/Tag Out and forklift operation upon assignment
- Must have basic math skills
- Must communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a fast paced warehouse or logistics environment
- Sit-down forklift truck experience
- Prior use of RF barcode readers and vehicle mounted computer systems preferred
- Basic knowledge of mathematics
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and written
- Self-directed with ability to work independently
- Forklift certification preferred
Job Duties
