Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group, is a leading broadline distributor dedicated to supporting local customers such as independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a specialized team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other professionals, the company is committed to building close, personalized relationships with customers. This collaborative approach helps clients improve their operations, develop innovative menus, select the best products, and optimize operational strategies. Performance Foodservice not only provides high-quality food products but also actively supports independent restaurant owners in realizing their business aspirations by delivering solutions that go beyond simple food distribution.
The company fosters an inclusive, safe, and rewarding working environment that values respect, recognition, and teamwork. Employees benefit from competitive compensation packages including base pay, incentives, overtime opportunities, and extensive benefits from the first day of employment such as health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Performance Foodservice emphasizes career progression and growth in essential roles that maintain a critical component of America’s food distribution system.
The role offered is for a Warehouse Order Picker/Material Handler based in a multi-level rack warehouse environment. The position involves selecting cases and various containers of food and non-food products to fulfill customer orders effectively and accurately. Using equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts, the picker is responsible for assembling orders on pallets, moving them to staging areas, wrapping, labeling, and ensuring orders are ready for shipment while strictly adhering to safety procedures and quality standards. Attention to detail is paramount, as maintaining the efficient flow of product through the production process plays a key part in meeting productivity and accuracy goals set by the company.
Functioning as a collaborative team member within the department and across the organization, the employee may be assigned additional duties as needed to support overall company objectives. The standard schedule includes Sunday through Thursday shifts averaging 10 hours per day, starting in the late afternoon or early evening, providing flexibility for candidates seeking non-traditional daytime hours. Wage potential is attractive, with starting pay at $21.50 per hour plus incentives and overtime, offering opportunities to earn up to $32.50 per hour or more.
Candidates joining Performance Foodservice will find themselves part of a company that prioritizes safety, growth, and employee wellbeing in an environment that honors diversity and equal opportunity. The company maintains robust policies against discrimination and supports all employees regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics. The successful applicant will receive comprehensive training including electric pallet jack certification and the chance to work in various temperature-controlled warehouse settings, further enriching their expertise and career trajectory in the food distribution industry.
