We are currently hiring for the position of Food Unit Lead at our Piedmont Columbus Midtown location in Columbus, GA. This is a full-time role with a variable schedule that includes weekend shifts. The pay range for the Food Unit Lead position is $16.00 to $19.00 per hour. This position plays a critical leadership role within the food service team by coordinating and overseeing the activities of other food-service employees to ensure an exceptional dining experience. The Food Unit Lead is responsible for upholding the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion control to align with Morrison Healthcare’s stringent quality expectations.
In this position, you will engage directly with customers, staff, and visitors to deliver high-quality service through personalized attention to detail. You will contribute to menu planning, supervise meal service, and handle customer complaints promptly, both in person and via electronic communications. The role demands leadership in training employees, scheduling work, and coordinating workflows to maintain an efficient and pleasant dining environment. In addition, you’ll manage daily operational tasks such as cash handling, inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with sanitation schedules and safety regulations. This role also involves employee orientation, ongoing training, and performance management to maintain a motivated, knowledgeable team committed to excellence in food service.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of previous food service experience
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
- Ability to work full time with a variable schedule including weekends
- Strong leadership and management abilities
- Good communication skills
- Ability to handle cash and complete reports accurately
- Ability to oversee food safety and sanitation protocols
- Ability to train and manage staff effectively
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Provides quality customer service by providing one-on-one attention to detail
- Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control
- Helps plan menus
- Ensures timely, efficient meal service
- supervises serving of meals
- Responds to customer complaints in person at the time of the complaint and via email for electronic complaints
- Trains employees
- assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites work flow
- Uses proper systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory-cash reports-production records, payroll and time- keeping
- Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual (deposits - petty cash - change funds)
- Orders food and other necessary supplies from approved sources or purveyors
- Directs and participates in the overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations
- Develops sanitation schedule and ensures food-service employees adhere to the schedule for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment
- Issues written and oral instructions
- Help select and orient employees
- oversees staff training in areas of responsibility
- Performs other duties as assigned
