Job Description
The Fort is a unique dining establishment located just Southwest of Denver, Colorado, nestled in the beautiful foothills of Red Rocks Country. This full-scale adobe replica of a famous 19th century fur trading fort offers a dining experience inspired by the trappers, traders, and American Indian recipes of that era. Known as "New Foods of the Old West," The Fort specializes in game meats, seafood, and vegetarian options, with more buffalo entrees sold than any other independent restaurant. This renowned establishment also proudly features an extensive wine selection and has earned the prestigious Wine Spectator Award for over ten consecutive years, highlighting its commitment to quality and excellence in dining.
The Fort is currently looking to expand its team by hiring dedicated, responsible, and hardworking cooks with lunch service experience to join their Food Truck operation. This role is part-time and seasonal, running from May 16th through August, with working days scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Food Truck menu features staples like Bison Burger, Brats, Chicken Salad, and Empanadas, which the cooks will be preparing and cooking according to prescribed methods.
As a cook at The Fort’s Food Truck, you will play a crucial role in food preparation and cooking, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety in the work area while adhering to all health regulations. This position requires individuals who have a "can-do" attitude, punctuality, effective communication with coworkers, wait staff, and management, and preferably, though not required, a Serve Safe certification. The compensation for this role starts at the minimum wage of $15.16 per hour plus tips, with a guaranteed minimum of $18.00 per hour, which may be higher depending on performance. The Fort also offers a 50% discount on lunch from the Food Truck, making it a great opportunity for individuals passionate about food service in a vibrant and historic setting.
Working at The Fort not only provides a competitive wage and benefits but also the chance to be part of a legacy that celebrates rich cultural traditions through its cuisine. The location is accessible, situated just a short 10-25 minute drive from most neighborhoods around Denver, offering a scenic and rewarding part-time work experience. The Food Truck cooks will be essential members of the team, helping The Fort maintain its reputation as one of the most unique and respected dining destinations in Colorado.
