Job Description

The University of Utah, a leading public research university located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is currently seeking full-time Food Transporter/Delivery Driver personnel to join their dynamic campus team. As a Food Transporter/Delivery Driver, your primary responsibility will be delivering food, supplies, and other essential products to various units and service areas utilizing a company vehicle. This role is vital to the smooth operation of campus food services, ensuring that all departments receive their requisitioned items efficiently and on schedule. The position includes tasks such as picking up and inventorying production orders, loading and unloading supplies with the assistance of staging clerks, and adhering to strict sanitation and safety standards to maintain food quality throughout the delivery process. This ensures that hot and cold food items meet all company and regulatory standards.

In addition to delivery duties, Food Transporters/Delivery Drivers are responsible for routine maintenance and cleanliness of their assigned vehicles, contributing to operational reliability and safety. This role emphasizes quality customer service and smooth coordination with coworkers to uphold the university’s high service standards. Job Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years as a transport driver preferred
  • Ability to work pallet jack and move pallets
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Valid food handler’s permit where required
  • Ability to work varying shifts between 7:00 AM and midnight
  • Physically capable of loading and unloading materials
  • Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Valid driver’s license, ensuring safe operation of company vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and conditions

Job Duties

  • Picks up requisitioned supplies from staging clerk
  • Receives completed production orders from staging clerk
  • Inventories items to ensure completion of production orders
  • Loads orders onto truck with assistance of staging clerks in a safe, orderly manner
  • Unloads requisitioned materials at delivery site
  • Follows sanitation and safety guidelines when handling food and equipment
  • Ensures hot and cold food items are kept in compliance with company standards and meet all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Collects empty containers and rejected or unsold merchandise
  • Responsible for general cleanliness of assigned vehicle
  • Performs routine maintenance on truck
  • Interacts with coworkers to ensure company service standards
  • Provides quality customer service via one-on-one attention to detail
  • Performs other duties as assigned
