The role of a Food Service Worker I at Michigan Dining is a full-time, onsite position based at the Ann Arbor campus, specifically within the MI Dining - Administration under the Dsa Housing Services group. This position plays a critical role in supporting the operational needs of the dining service by executing various food preparation and kitchen maintenance tasks. The employee will adhere to standardized recipes and maintain compliance with HACCP standards and health codes, ensuring that all food items are prepared safely and hygienically. The work schedule for this role is consistently planned with shifts mainly on Sundays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, and Monday through Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm, with Thursdays and Fridays off. The hourly rate ranges from $19.09 to $20.25 with annual increases reflecting commitment to a living wage, amounting to an annual salary of approximately $39,707 to $42,120.

In this capacity, the Food Service Worker is responsible for a dynamic range of duties including setting up stations, assisting cooks and bakers with routine preparation work, trimming and slicing meats and cheeses, processing fruits and vegetables, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of their workstations. This position requires physical stamina to stand for extended periods and the ability to handle items weighing up to 50 pounds.
