Job Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food preparation and service in a hospital or similar environment
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Food Handler certification within 1 year
  • Strong food service knowledge from hospital, restaurant or related environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain a friendly demeanor
  • Ability to read and understand communications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and push/pull 20 lbs.
  • Experience with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Must be able to handle physical demands of the job

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • At least 3 years of experience in food preparation, service techniques, cashiering, and sanitation standards in large hospital or restaurant food service environment
  • Strong knowledge of food service in hospital or related environment
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with nursing personnel
  • Ability to read and understand written and oral communications
  • Self-directed with decision-making skills
  • Maintain friendly and cheerful demeanor
  • Excellent phone etiquette
  • Knowledge of food/drug interactions and allergens
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and internet

Job Duties

  • Act as a resource to employees and students including training and providing day-to-day work direction
  • Assign, monitor, and review progress and accuracy of work
  • Monitor productivity and staffing levels
  • Assist with human resource responsibilities including interviewing, staff development, and employee morale
  • Monitor general department operations and adjust schedules
  • Provide work direction and guidance to food service staff
  • Maintain quality food production for customers
  • Resolve customer complaints and workflow issues
  • Forecast food requirements and maintain food usage records
  • Manage purchasing, tray-line, cafeteria, and special function requests
  • Inspect equipment and work areas for sanitation and maintenance
  • Utilize safety and sanitation standards to ensure safe food handling
  • Function as Food Service Assistant or Food Ambassador when necessary
