The Food Services/Cook position at RFK Community Alliance offers an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and dedicated team within a dynamic work environment. This full-time role, working Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, carries a competitive hourly wage ranging from $21.50 to $23.00. The role is integral to supporting daily culinary and dining operations across various campus programs and events. The Food Services/Cook position encompasses a combination of responsibilities including receiving deliveries, food preparation, and dishwashing. A key part of this job is to manage vendor and campus deliveries efficiently, ensuring proper storage, rotation, and labeling of food items following the First In, First Out (FIFO) system to maintain food quality and safety standards. In addition to the receiving duties, the role involves assisting in the preparation of scratch and speed-scratch menu items, supporting residential weekend menus, catering functions, and special campus events. The Food Services/Cook will also serve as a backup cook for team members when needed, demonstrating versatility within the kitchen team. On the dishwashing front, responsibilities include scraping, rinsing, washing, sanitizing, and properly storing kitchenware, pots, and pans. Attention to detail is critical for preparing and documenting sanitizer concentrations and temperatures, maintaining cleanliness, and organizing the kitchen and dishwashing areas, including the proper disposal of trash.

This role is tailored to candidates with 1-2 years of experience in a food service or culinary environment and requires a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. A high school diploma is mandatory, with a preference given to candidates holding a college degree. Additional certifications such as ServSafe Food Handler or Allergen Awareness are considered advantageous. RFK Community Alliance emphasizes a welcoming and inclusive work culture where employees are respected and supported as part of a diverse workforce. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off, holiday pay, educational assistance, life insurance, disability coverage, a retirement plan with employer match, tuition reimbursement, and an employee assistance program.
