The role of Food Services Worker at Kaweah Health is a vital position within the 8341 Food & Nutrition Services-West department, designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and flexible work schedules. This part-time, benefit-eligible role involves a variety of responsibilities across several functional areas, including dishroom operations, cold food production, patient hosting, cooks helper tasks, and retail food service. Food Services Workers support the hospital’s mission by ensuring quality food service operations that meet rigorous sanitation, safety, and nutritional standards. Job Duties
- thoroughly clean cooking implements equipment and serving pieces
- clear dirty trays from cafe and patient carts
- deliver and pick up patient carts to and from units
- sweep and mop floors wash work tables walls and refrigerators
- scrape food from dirty dishes pots and pans and wash them by hand or place them in dishwashing machine
- transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or using hand truck or cart
- clean equipment using appropriate chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
- work on any station of tray line as assigned check tray for accuracy to menu
- move carts loaded with dishes or trays to appropriate areas as needed
- deliver patient trays upon request
- correctly operate dishroom equipment
- check and document dish machine temperatures take appropriate action if temperatures are not within acceptable range
- dispose of garbage according to department standards
- keep all work areas clean and orderly
- assist with catering setup and cleanup as needed
- responsible for food preparation
- taste products read menus estimate food requirements check production and keep records for planning requisition supplies and equipment
- monitor all Food Service areas to ensure foods are properly covered labeled and dated
- visit patients for food selections and preferences ensuring meal selections fit therapeutic diet
- deliver patient trays using appropriate patient identification techniques
- monitor pantry areas record refrigerator temperatures and replenish food supplies according to par levels
- assist with catering assignments including food preparation room setup replenishing and cleanup
- select recipes per menu cycle prepare bakery items receive inventory move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for special diets
- follow HACCP guidelines and practices when preparing cooking and serving food
- provide excellent customer service take food orders serve and prepare food for hospital food service customers
- operate cash register receive payments make change issue receipts and prepare bank deposits
- set up and stock beverage or other assigned areas
- assemble trays keep conversation to patient information only and utilize food safety and sanitation measures
- stock trayline with appropriate food and supplies
- follow proper dishwashing procedures using appropriate dish racks
- clean and sanitize carts and work areas
- roll silverware
- sweep mop floors in tray make up area
- use correct chemicals and follow safe handling procedures including PPE
- demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care and services appropriate to population served
- perform other duties as assigned
