Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe Certification a plus at time of hire but required within 1 year
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English
- Able to perform all food service operations
- Able to organize time and activities of self and others to maximize effectiveness of department operations
- Three years food service experience with one-year supervisory experience in food service required
- Supervisory experience waived if at least one year of food service experience with St. Vincent Hospital Food & Nutrition Services
- Slip-resistant sole shoes required
- Ability to stoop, bend, stand, sit, use gross and fine motor skills for long periods
- Able to consistently lift 20 pounds and push and pull heavy commercial equipment
- Able to climb a stepladder
- Must tolerate extreme temperatures including walk-in coolers, freezers, grills, ovens and production areas
- Ability to work flexible hours with possible emergency schedule changes
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred

- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English
- Able to perform all food service operations
- Able to organize time and activities of self and others to maximize department effectiveness
- Supervisory experience in food service
- Experience working in a healthcare food service environment is a plus
- Spanish-speaking a plus
Job Duties
- Create an environment of clear responsibility, authority, autonomy and accountability that energizes and encourages the staff to perform at their personal best
- Work successfully as a member of the management team to provide highest quality of food, customer service, and clinical support
- Organize own shift to expected level of productivity, even in the face of challenges
- Work closely with other supervisors and managers to ensure smooth transition and adequate prep for next shift
- Ensure employees receive on-the-job coaching to improve performance, promote retention and positively impact productivity and team spirit
- Assist in hiring, orienting, training, performance evaluations, rewarding/motivating and corrective actions
- Perform all computer tasks related to food and nutrition programs and train staff on these systems
- Enforce sanitation guidelines and monitor equipment maintenance and operations
- Support inventory organization and recommend improvements
- Open and/or close department managing time and resources effectively to meet budgets
- Oversee daily production, tray line and retail operations ensuring quality and safety
- Complete attendance logs and assist with scheduling
- Ensure compliance with department, hospital, state and federal standards and regulations
- Receive counts and deposits cash accurately following cash handling guidelines
- Initiate or assume responsibility for performance improvements
- Perform meal rounds, unit surveys or test trays as assigned
