Job Description
Pilot Company is a leading network of travel centers operating across North America, with a substantial presence that includes over 750 retail and fueling locations spread throughout 44 U.S. states and six Canadian provinces. Established in 1958 by Jim A. Haslam II, the company has grown to employ more than 30,000 team members dedicated to delivering exceptional service and operational excellence. Pilot Company’s energy and logistics division plays a pivotal role in the industry, managing one of the largest tanker fleets to supply fuel and offer critical services to oil operations in some of the busiest basins in the country. The company’s business operations extend beyond retail and supply chain management to include expertise in logistics, transportation, technology, digital innovation, construction, maintenance, human resources, finance, sales, and marketing. This diversified portfolio allows Pilot Company to act as a major player in keeping North America moving efficiently and reliably.
The company culture is strongly rooted in its founding values and a people-first approach, actively fostering a supportive work environment where every team member is valued. Under the leadership of CEO Adam Wright, this commitment remains central to Pilot Company’s mission, enabling it to remain a trustworthy and respected brand in the transportation and retail fuel sectors. The company also prioritizes inclusivity and equal opportunity in employment, welcoming applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics, and strongly encourages military veterans to apply.
The Shift Leader role at Pilot Company is an integral position responsible for overseeing the restaurant operations and supervising the performance of employees during shifts. This role requires a blend of leadership and customer service skills to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and an outstanding guest experience. Shift Leaders act as the frontline managerial presence, stepping in to assist with operational tasks, facility maintenance, and team coordination as needed. Candidates for this position are expected to be knowledgeable about the store’s operations and uphold Pilot Food and Journey’s (PFJ’s) high standards for quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal Shift Leader is a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at multitasking while maintaining a positive attitude.
This is a part-time or full-time position, with pay rates starting between $14.20 and $21.10 per hour, reflecting the candidate’s experience and expertise. Shift Leaders have the flexibility to work various shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs dictate. The job involves engaging with diverse individuals including team members, customers, vendors, and corporate personnel, requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Overall, this position offers a rewarding career path for individuals aiming to grow within the hospitality and retail fuel industry while contributing to one of the nation’s largest travel center networks.
