As a Food Services Director Certified Dietary Manager at Life Care Centers of America, you will play an integral role in the daily operations of food services within post-acute care settings. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing comprehensive food service operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality nutritional services that comply with all applicable laws, regulatory standards, and Life Care policies. The Food Services Director will oversee menu planning, food preparation, and service to ensure that patient dietary needs are met according to physician orders and registered dietitian recommendations. This individual will test cooked food for taste, temperature, and quality to uphold food safety and sanitation standards. The position also entails budget management, procurement of food and supplies, and supervision of training and development of the food service team.
This role requires a Certified Dietary Manager credential or completion of an approved state course in food services. Candidates must maintain active certification and demonstrate at least one year of experience in post-acute care food service along with a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity. The Food Services Director must have solid knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and practices relevant to post-acute healthcare food services, and be capable of making independent decisions in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Throughout the performance of this role, maintaining professional working relationships, confidentiality, and compliance with company policies including harassment prevention and code of conduct adherence are paramount. Job Requirements
- CDM or state approved course in food services
- Current certification as a Certified Dietary Manager in applicable state and maintain active certification throughout employment
- One year experience in post acute care food service
- Minimum two years supervisory experience
- Ability to make independent decisions as warranted
- Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post acute care food service
- Ability to implement and interpret department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Proficient in patient rights, safety, and sanitation practices
- Maintain professional working relationships with associates and vendors
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Display integrity and professionalism and complete mandatory compliance training
Job Qualifications
- Certified Dietary Manager credential or completion of state-approved food services course
- Current certification as Certified Dietary Manager in applicable state and maintain active certification
- Minimum one year experience in post-acute care food service
- Minimum two years supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary care teams
- Proficient in nutrition documentation and food service management systems
Job Duties
- Test cooked food for taste, temperature, and smell
- Ensure menus are served as written and approved by Registered Dietitian
- Plan and direct food service staff to prepare and serve high quality food on time and at proper temperature for meals and snacks
- Ensure that the patient's physician ordered diets are prepared and served accurately at meals and snacks
- Order food, supplies, and equipment for food preparation and service, reviewing all deliveries of food for quality, proper amounts, and pricing
- Recruit, select, train, counsel, and supervise food service staff
- Complete nutrition documentation timely and accurately
- Participate in interdisciplinary patient care meetings involving nutrition
- Assist the Registered Dietitian in the collection of nutrition information and any other pertinent information
- Effectively manage and operate within budget
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Assist in the evacuation of patients
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
