Job Description

H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute is a leading comprehensive cancer center dedicated to providing world-class clinical care, innovative research, and education in the fight against cancer. Located in Tampa, Florida, Moffitt Cancer Center is renowned for its commitment to advancing cancer treatment through cutting-edge approaches and compassionate patient care. The Department of Food Services at Moffitt plays a vital role in supporting patient recovery and comfort by delivering nutritious and safely prepared meals tailored to individual dietary needs. As a part of this team, the Food Services Cold Food Prep team member contributes significantly to the overall patient experience by ensuring the availability of high-quality food offerings in both patient and food court settings.

The Food Services Cold Food Prep team member position is a part-time role with varied daytime shifts, offering flexibility while working in a dynamic healthcare environment. This role involves preparing, displaying, and serving a variety of cold food products in a high-volume setting such as the Food Court or assisting patient food services. The team member is responsible for the accurate setup, breakdown, and sanitation of all serving areas, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring that meals are served at the correct temperatures. Attention to detail is essential to safely rotate and restock cold and hot foods to guarantee freshness and quality.

Key responsibilities include having knowledge of specific diet modifications and allergies to serve patient meals correctly or answer guest inquiries in the food court. This requires the ability to work collaboratively with the Patient Food Services team and maintain strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, temperature controls, and sanitation procedures. Upholding departmental standards for plate presentation and workspace cleanliness is crucial in fostering a safe and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and families alike.

Overall, this role is ideal for individuals interested in contributing to a healthcare environment through food service, emphasizing safety, quality, and customer care. The job provides the opportunity to gain experience in hospitality and healthcare settings with a focus on food safety standards and patient-centered service. This position supports Moffitt Cancer Center's mission by ensuring that nutritional needs and dietary restrictions are met reliably and professionally, making a tangible difference in patients’ treatment experiences.
