Job Description
The Salvation Army is an international evangelical movement and a vital part of the universal Christian Church. Rooted deeply in its biblical foundation, the organization is driven by the love of God and a commitment to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ while addressing human needs without discrimination. As a globally recognized humanitarian entity, The Salvation Army combines faith-based mission with practical service, contributing to community well-being through numerous social services, disaster relief, and outreach programs.
The Salvation Army's Events and Catering Department seeks a dedicated Food Services Attendant on a part-time basis, with a 29-hour workweek and a non-exempt hourly wage of $16.53. This rewarding role requires providing exceptional, friendly service to both internal guests and external clients, including during banquets, birthday parties, and café operations. The Food Services Attendant plays a critical role in maintaining hygiene, sanitation, and compliance with food safety regulations, contributing to a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
This position is embedded within a distinctively Christian workplace culture emphasizing respect, kindness, and professionalism in every interaction, mirroring the organization's mission and values. The Food Services Attendant must be adaptable, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, and thrive in a dynamic setting that involves teamwork, customer engagement, and attention to detail.
In this role, the attendant will perform a variety of tasks, including safe food handling and preparation, cleaning, setting up event spaces, serving food and beverages, operating cash registers, and supporting banquet and party functions with high-energy service. The commitment to safety involves not only handling food properly but also following cleaning protocols, utilizing protective equipment, and reporting any hazards promptly to supervisors.
Applicants must be able to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, communicate effectively, and operate related equipment efficiently. They will be entrusted with responsibilities requiring vigilance and diplomacy, such as resolving guest issues and respecting guest property and privacy. Furthermore, the position requires adherence to confidentiality standards concerning sensitive information.
The Salvation Army prioritizes accessibility and inclusiveness in its recruitment process, offering accommodations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upon request. The selected Food Services Attendant must be able to perform the essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. A criminal history check is required, and while a criminal conviction is not an absolute barrier to employment, all factors will be considered in context.
This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about community service, enjoy working in food service, and want to contribute to a faith-driven organization that serves people from all walks of life. By joining The Salvation Army as a Food Services Attendant, employees become part of a supportive team that values integrity, compassion, and excellence.
