The Food Services Associate role is based at Abbott Park, IL, within the GES Global Engineering Services division. This position supports daily dining operations at Abbott’s corporate headquarters by preparing and serving food and beverages, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized foodservice environment. The role includes responsibilities such as food preparation, barista duties, cashiering, serving, and inventory management. It is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented environments and have a passion for providing a pleasant dining experience. This position offers a competitive hourly wage between $15.90 and $31.00, depending on location and experience. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous food service, cafeteria, cafe, or barista experience preferred
  • strong customer service and communication skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • basic math skills and comfort using POS systems
  • knowledge of food safety practices (ServSafe certification a plus)
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • ability to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds
  • ability to bend, stoop, and reach as required for food service tasks

Job Duties

  • Prepare and assemble menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and food safety guidelines
  • serve food courteously and efficiently in a corporate dining or cafe setting
  • assist with catering setups and breakdowns for meetings and events as needed
  • prepare coffee, espresso-based drinks, and specialty beverages
  • operate espresso machines and other beverage equipment safely and properly
  • maintain a clean and stocked beverage station
  • operate point-of-sale (POS) systems accurately
  • handle cash, credit, and mobile transactions following company procedures
  • provide friendly, professional service to employees and guests
  • address customer questions or concerns promptly and professionally
  • assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating food and supply inventory
  • monitor product levels and communicate restocking needs
  • help minimize waste through proper storage and inventory practices
  • maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment
  • follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
  • comply with local health department regulations and company policies
