Job Description

Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) is an established educational institution dedicated to fostering challenging, meaningful, and engaging learning opportunities to ensure every child thrives and prepares for a successful and civically engaged life. Serving a diverse geographic region that spans approximately 500 square miles, BVSD caters to the communities of Boulder, Erie, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Broomfield, Nederland, Ward, Jamestown, and Gold Hill. This expansive reach allows the district to support a wide variety of students with innovative and comprehensive educational approaches that focus on intellectual growth, physical development, and social-emotional well-being. BVSD is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable environment that values all students and staff, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in educational excellence within Colorado. BVSD employs a workforce that shares its commitment to these values and seeks individuals ready to contribute to their vision of educational success.

The Food Services Assistant role at BVSD is a vital position within the Food Services Department, based specifically at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado. This position is classified as Unit C-Food Services with a regular, ongoing part-time schedule of 0.375 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) hours, equating to 15 hours per week over the school’s 9-month academic calendar. The Food Services Assistant supports daily school meal operations, ensuring nutritious meals are prepared and served according to standardized menus and food safety procedures. This position requires hands-on involvement in numerous areas, including reheating items, salad bar setup, service line presentation, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across kitchen and cafeteria spaces. The role involves a close working relationship with the Kitchen Satellite Lead to manage inventory, receive supplies, perform accurate food rotation and labeling, and carry out essential record-keeping activities such as temperature logs, production records, and inventory counts.

This role also plays an essential part in transactional duties such as cashiering during meal periods, using front-of-house software systems, handling money collection, and managing meal sales efficiently. Following allergen policies and food safety regulations is critical to protecting students with allergies and maintaining a high standard of health compliance consistent with the National School Lunch Program and BVSD’s own Standard Operating Procedures. The Food Services Assistant fosters a professional, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere fostering positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the wider school community. The position pays between $17.96 and $24.73 per hour depending on experience and education, which does not include benefits. The application deadline for this role is May 17, 2026, and the position officially begins on May 18, 2026. BVSD provides an excellent benefits package that covers health, dental, vision insurance, retirement, employee assistance programs, and more, supporting the overall well-being of its employees. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about nutrition and student well-being who enjoy working collaboratively within a school environment and want to contribute to the health and success of students in Boulder County.
