We are currently hiring full-time and part-time Food Service Worker/Cashier positions at our location at Eckerd College, 4200 54th Avenue South, Saint Petersburg, FL 33711. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of service and food quality that Bon Appetit is known for. The Food Service Worker/Cashier performs various duties including food preparation, cashiering, maintaining sanitation, and customer service tasks. Candidates should have availability for nights and weekends as schedules and hours may vary. The pay rate for this position is $14.30 per hour, and paid training is provided to ensure all team members are equipped to perform their duties effectively. The ideal candidate will have previous food service and customer service experience, although this is preferred and not mandatory. Responsibilities include prepping fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring ingredients, safely transporting food between workstations, stocking supplies, maintaining cleanliness, following food safety and sanitation procedures, using approved recipes and production standards, serving customers with friendliness and efficiency, resolving customer complaints courteously, handling cash transactions accurately, and maintaining the cash drawer according to company standards. This position demands attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences while upholding the company’s values and standards.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous food service experience preferred
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Availability for night and weekend shifts
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to operate cash register and handle money accurately
  • Willingness to comply with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Performs prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables
  • Weighs and measures designated ingredients
  • Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards
  • Distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment
  • Stores foods in designated areas in accordance with wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures
  • Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Ensures compliance with sanitation and safety requirements
  • Uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service
  • Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Relays relevant information to supervisor
  • Performs sales transactions
  • Enters sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded
  • Makes change, accepts declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment
  • Issues receipts to customers
  • Follows standard procedures for issuing cash refunds
  • Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards
  • Replenishes condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining service area cleanliness
  • Performs other duties as assigned
