The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is a critical position responsible for assisting the manager with the preparation of food and meals while maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation, and kitchen safety. This role involves not only preparing a variety of food items according to planned menus but also ensuring proper storage and handling of food to maintain freshness and safety. Employees in this position must be detail-oriented and able to follow health and safety regulations rigorously to provide guests with safe and delicious meals.

In addition to food preparation, the Food Service Worker assists with maintaining accurate cash receipts and meal records to support daily financial and operational reports. This position involves daily communication with management to ensure that meals are prepared according to schedule and expectations, and it also includes supervising food temperature requirements and adherence to department policies.

Beyond cooking duties, this role demands maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen and storage areas. This includes cleaning, sanitizing kitchen equipment, counters, steam tables, and floors, as well as managing garbage collection sites in a sanitary manner. The role may also involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods. Wearing uniforms and personal protective equipment is required to uphold health and safety standards.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior food service or kitchen experience preferred
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
  • capability to work under pressure

  • sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • be able to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • adhere to the uniform policy
  • connect with the manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • supervise the food temperature requirements
  • maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • this role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
  • this role may also require uniforms and/or usage of personal protective equipment (ppe)
