Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in food preparation particularly in an institutional setting
  • willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to follow food safety and sanitation protocols
  • good communication skills
  • physical ability to perform kitchen tasks such as lifting and standing for long periods
  • completion of First Aid and CPR training as required

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in food preparation particularly in an institutional setting
  • basic verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to prepare and serve meals and snacks in compliance with approved menus
  • familiarity with USDA meal requirements for adults regarding portion size and nutritional content
  • basic knowledge of nutrition including managing food allergies and dietary restrictions
  • ability to perform simple arithmetic such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
  • ability to maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation areas
  • ability to manage food inventory and request approval for menu changes
  • ability to ensure welfare, health, and safety of residents during mealtimes
  • ability to support other staff and maintain kitchen sanitation
  • completion of First Aid and CPR training

Job Duties

  • Meal preparation following specific recipes and meal plans
  • cooking large quantities of food ensuring proper portion control and quality
  • adhering to food safety standards including proper handling, storage, and preparation
  • maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation including washing dishes and sanitizing equipment
  • assisting in managing food inventory by tracking ingredients and notifying supervisors of low stock
  • collaborating with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service and adherence to dietary requirements
  • occasionally interacting with staff and residents to serve meals and accommodate dietary restrictions
  • logging temperatures of food items and equipment
  • documenting food usage and following food waste management procedures
  • working a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • performing duties efficiently in compliance with health regulations
