Job Description
TNG, also known as The Nutrition Group, is a well-established food service management company with a rich history dating back to 1975. Over the decades, the company has expanded its operations and now serves clients across seven states. TNG takes pride in delivering delicious and healthy meals throughout the year, emphasizing quality and customer satisfaction. With a dedicated team-driven approach, TNG believes that every individual on the team plays a crucial role in the company's success. The company is committed to fostering long-term relationships with its clients, customers, and team members, setting itself apart as a leader in the food service management industry. As part of this mission, TNG continuously strives to develop, maintain, and grow these relationships through excellent service and dedication.
This particular opportunity at TNG is for a position working within a local school kitchen or cafeteria environment. The role focuses on providing nutritious and appealing meals to students and staff, contributing directly to their well-being and health. The work schedule is designed to promote work-life balance, featuring daylight hours from Monday to Friday with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required, allowing for personal time off and the chance to recharge. Additionally, employees can benefit from PTO (paid time off) and participate in the company’s 401(k) retirement plan, which supports their financial security for the future.
In this role, the successful candidate will engage in a variety of tasks that ensure high standards of food preparation and service comply with federal and state regulations. Specific duties include cooking and preparing food, portioning and serving meals, and upholding sanitation standards according to USDA and state guidelines. Employees must also follow HACCP protocols and health department regulations to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment. Moreover, there is an element of cost monitoring and inventory control, which means working efficiently with resources and minimizing waste. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on role in food service within an educational setting and is eager to contribute to a positive dining experience for students.
TNG values team members who demonstrate a positive and consistent work ethic and are willing to learn and grow within their positions. Food service experience is preferred but not mandatory, and basic computer literacy is also an advantage. Given the nature of the work environment, strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical to fostering teamwork and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. Reliable transportation to and from the workplace is required, as is the ability to pass criminal background checks. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy items up to and over 40 pounds, walking, and activities involving pushing and pulling, which makes this role suitable for individuals who are physically capable and enjoy active work.
TNG is committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. This reflects the company’s dedication to building a welcoming and supportive workplace where all employees can thrive and contribute to the organization’s ongoing success.
