Job Description
Aramark is a global leader in food service, facilities management, and uniform services, operating in 15 countries and serving millions of guests daily. Rooted in a strong commitment to service and united by a shared purpose, Aramark seeks to do great things for its employees, partners, communities, and the planet. They prioritize equal employment opportunities and foster an inclusive culture where diversity of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, disability, and other protected statuses is respected and valued. With a focus on professional development, Aramark aims to help employees grow their talents, fuel their passions, and empower their careers by providing meaningful work and opportunities for advancement.
The Food Service Worker position at the Roederer Correctional Complex is a unique and vital role within Aramark's food service operations. This is a supervisory position where the incumbent oversees inmates who assist in meal preparation, ensuring all food items are produced according to established production plans and safety standards. The role involves training inmates on proper food handling methods, supervising food preparation and tray assembly, coordinating work to maintain efficient kitchen operations, and enforcing sanitation and safety regulations strictly adhering to Aramark and correctional facility protocols.
The Food Service Worker must guarantee that meals are served timely and that all portions meet specified guidelines and special dietary needs, reflecting the rigorous standards that Aramark requires across its food service locations. Additionally, the role entails reviewing production and temperature logs to assure compliance with strict food safety and quality control standards such as HACCP. The worker is responsible for maintaining storage security, ensuring that all kitchen tools and equipment are returned to their designated secure areas and that all necessary keys are secured to meet correctional security provisions.
This position requires not only technical food service skills but also a high degree of interpersonal ability, as the worker will need to effectively supervise and motivate inmates within a correctional environment to achieve the desired food production outcomes. The candidate must be capable of working independently with limited supervision and exercising good judgment and tact in potentially challenging situations. They are expected to participate actively in food preparation, assist with inventory and ordering processes, and engage fully with Aramark’s standards of operation. Physical demands of the role include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing, often requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniforms.
Aramark also offers competitive full health benefits, a 401k plan, vacation and paid time off (PTO), holiday pay, college tuition assistance, and free shift meals, along with other employee perks. This helps ensure that the role is not only rewarding in terms of career development but also provides excellent support and incentives for its workforce. The opportunity to work in a structured correctional environment with Aramark provides specialized experience that enhances skills in food service management and supervisory responsibilities, preparing employees for progressive roles within the company.
