The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is an essential position supporting the food service manager and the broader kitchen team. This role primarily involves assisting in food and meal preparation while maintaining high standards of food quality, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices. The Food Service Worker is responsible for maintaining accurate cash receipts and meal records, aiding in daily reporting, and contributing to the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities include preparing quality food and baked goods according to planned menus and ensuring the proper storage and handling of food in accordance with food safety regulations. This role requires close coordination with the manager to understand daily menu requirements and to ensure food is served according to scheduled meal times and department policies. Additional duties include the use and care of kitchen equipment, garnishing dishes to enhance customer satisfaction, and supervising food temperature requirements to maintain safety and quality.

The position entails physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended standing or walking, as well as adherence to uniform policies and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when needed. Food Service Workers must maintain a clean and organized work area, perform thorough cleaning of kitchen equipment like refrigerators, freezers, and steam tables, and manage waste disposal to uphold sanitary conditions.

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • adhere to the uniform policy
  • connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • supervise the food temperature requirements
  • maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
