The Food Service Worker at Pipeline Health plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional needs of patients, staff, and visitors within the hospital setting. Reporting to the Clinical Dietician and Diet Aide, this position is essential for the efficient preparation, service, and cleanup of meals. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment, the Food Service Worker must adhere rigorously to food safety and sanitation standards while accommodating a variety of special dietary requirements and restrictions mandated by Pipeline Health policies and regulatory agencies.
This role demands strong professionalism and effective communication skills, with an emphasis on applying the AIDET framework—Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank you—to enhance the patient experience. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas, operating kitchen equipment, safe handling and delivery of food orders, dishwashing, and equipment maintenance. Food Service Workers must be vigilant about safety practices, compliance with HIPAA regulations, and the overall maintenance of a hygienic and orderly work environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a food service setting
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must adhere to dress code and uniform policies
- Ability to attend required trainings

- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- Experience in preparing meals for people with special dietary needs is a plus

Job Duties
- Clean and sanitize kitchen and dining areas including Physician's dining areas as needed
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
- Take and deliver food orders to patients to/from nursing units
- Follow dish machine procedures, fill, and check temperature document
- Wash and properly store all dishware
- Clean filters in cafeteria and kitchen, clean trashcans, carts, and dish machine once a week
- Clean and sanitize work area at the end of the shift
- Use clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external
- Use AIDET in interactions with patients and family members
- Act with a sense of urgency when performing tasks
- Perform basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter
- Report on any equipment and environmental issues for repair
- Abide by HIPAA regulations
- Speak up to stop the line and escalate potential safety events if necessary
- Complete and attend monthly training assigned
- May float to other areas of the hospital as needed
- Other duties as assigned
