Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required and must provide proof at time of interview
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations related to weights, measures, and tallies
  • Ability to operate foodservice equipment
  • Ability to work with patients and the general public
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, lift, stoop, twist, and turn frequently
  • Ability to lift heavy objects

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Assembles patient trays according to specified diet order
  • Portions and serves hot and cold food according to departmental standards
  • Delivers food, supplies, nourishments and patient trays to points of usage
  • Stores food and supplies issued from the storeroom according to department regulations
  • Collects used patient trays and returns them to the department
  • Performs all routine and special cleaning tasks including dishwashing, washing pots and pans, equipment cleaning, and floor maintenance
  • Removes food waste and trash from department areas and disposes of waste according to established procedures
  • Operates foodservice equipment such as pressure cleaners, blenders, vegetable cutting machines, can openers, food brewers, dishwashers, and cash registers
  • Follows hospital and department safety and sanitation policies
  • Attends in-service training and departmental meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
