The organization represents a shining example of what can be accomplished when the brightest professionals in healthcare dedicate themselves to making a significant difference both in the industry and in patients' lives. Wellstar offers an inclusive, supportive work environment designed to help healthcare professionals thrive and find fulfillment in their careers.
The current opening is for a Food Service Worker who will play a crucial role in supporting quality patient food services within the Wellstar Health System. This position involves working closely with the Diet Clerk to ensure the proper cleaning, stocking, and sanitation of the food assembly area. The Food Service Worker is responsible for adhering to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) standards by documenting sanitation and food safety measures, ensuring the highest quality food service for patients. This role demands a strong sense of responsibility, as the worker must maintain the cleanliness of dishwashing and pot sink areas and efficiently transport and sanitize patient food carts. Cross-training in other areas of food service is part of the job, providing employees with varied skills and experience within the department.
Additional responsibilities include preparing and delivering floor stock and cold food to nursing units, ensuring food items are properly dated, labeled, and stored following strict FIFO (first in, first out) inventory practices. The Food Service Worker must be knowledgeable about safely operating all assigned equipment, including assembly, cleaning, and sanitation processes. This ensures food quality and patient safety are never compromised. The role also involves identifying and troubleshooting issues with tickets or equipment and ensuring adequate portion control. Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked workstation ready for meal service is a key duty, which contributes directly to the overall patient experience.
Communication is a vital part of the role, as the Food Service Worker interacts regularly with various managerial and administrative teams, including Patient Services Managers and Food Production Managers. The position requires adherence to Wellstar's policies, departmental rules, and code of conduct, which ensures a professional and respectful working environment. The work shift for this role is during the day in the United States, aligning with the regular meal service times within healthcare settings.
Wellstar Health System values its employees by offering a supportive environment to do meaningful work that makes a tangible impact on patients' lives. This position provides a unique opportunity for individuals seeking a rewarding career in healthcare support services, emphasizing compassion, excellence, and teamwork. Joining Wellstar means becoming part of a larger mission dedicated to improving health outcomes while advancing your professional growth in a reputable organization.
