Job Description

Baptist Health is the region's largest not-for-profit healthcare organization, providing comprehensive healthcare services across Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. With 12 hospitals, over 29,000 employees, 4,500 physicians, and 200 outpatient centers, Baptist Health stands as a pillar of medical excellence and compassionate care. The organization is internationally recognized for its centers of excellence in cancer treatment, cardiovascular care, orthopedics and sports medicine, and neurosciences. Founded on a faith-based mission, Baptist Health combines philanthropy with cutting-edge medical practices to deliver world-class care to its diverse community. Over the past 26 years, Baptist Health has achieved significant recognition, including being named one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For and earning 63 high-performing honors in the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital Rankings, the most for any healthcare system in South Florida.

What distinguishes Baptist Health is its people-centered approach. The organization fosters personal connections among its employees and builds meaningful relationships with patients and families, ensuring that care goes beyond the clinical setting. The shared experiences of many staff members as patients themselves amplify the commitment to compassion and quality. Baptist Health’s culture is deeply rooted in purpose, focusing on making a positive impact and embracing the philosophy that every team member plays an essential role in fostering health and wellness.

Employees at Baptist Health benefit from a supportive and growth-oriented work environment that values their professional and personal development. The organization follows a "grow our own" philosophy, encouraging career advancement through internal pathways complemented by continuous learning opportunities. Employees have access to comprehensive health and wellness programs that extend beyond traditional benefits to include initiatives that can reduce out-of-pocket healthcare costs. Additionally, tuition reimbursement programs support ongoing educational goals, enabling staff to build meaningful, long-term careers within the organization.

The role of a Food Service Worker at Baptist Health is integral to maintaining the hospital’s high standards of patient care and satisfaction. This position is responsible for preparing, assembling, and delivering patient meals in strict accordance with quality, service, infection control, and food safety protocols. The Food Service Worker also delivers stock supplies to patient floor kitchens, serves guests, and replenishes food and supplies as needed. The role includes sanitation duties and dish room tasks, as well as handling financial transactions such as collecting payments for guest trays and operating as a cashier in the cafeteria. This position may also support the setup and service of meals in corporate retail areas, catering events, and specialized dining outlets like the Doctors Dining Room, providing a vital contribution to both patient and visitor experience at Baptist Health.

This multifaceted position not only supports efficient food service operations but also contributes meaningfully to the overall safety, comfort, and satisfaction of patients and guests. Food Service Workers at Baptist Health are trained to perform independently, provide cross-functional support, and assist in training new employees, ensuring seamless food service delivery. The estimated hourly pay for this position ranges from $16.00 to $19.49, dependent on experience, reflecting the organization's commitment to fair and competitive compensation.
