Job Description

Baptist Health is the region's largest not-for-profit healthcare organization, providing comprehensive and compassionate care across South Florida with 12 hospitals, over 29,000 employees, 4,500 physicians, and more than 200 outpatient centers, urgent care facilities, and physician practices spanning Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Renowned for excellence in cancer care, cardiovascular services, orthopedics and sports medicine, and neurosciences, Baptist Health combines cutting-edge medical treatment with a faith-based mission of delivering unparalleled medical excellence. Supported by philanthropy and driven by a commitment to community wellness, Baptist Health has a longstanding reputation for being a top employer, having been named one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For for 26 years straight. In the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital Rankings, this health system was the most awarded in South Florida, earning 63 high-performing honors.

At Baptist Health, people are truly what set the institution apart. The organization nurtures a culture where employees form personal connections beyond the professional environment and build meaningful relationships with patients and their families, creating a patient-centered approach focused on compassion, quality, and trust. This commitment is rooted in shared experiences, with many team members having encountered similar health challenges themselves, fueling their dedication to exceptional care. The workplace culture emphasizes purpose, with each team member playing an essential role in making a positive impact in their communities. Baptist Health fosters an environment of growth and support through its 'grow our own' employment philosophy, investing in career development, health and wellness programs, tuition reimbursement, and other benefits that help staff flourish both personally and professionally.

The Food Service Worker role at Baptist Health is an essential position that supports patient care by preparing, assembling, and delivering meals that meet high standards of quality, service, infection control, and food safety. This position is integral to ensuring that patients receive nutritious, timely meals while maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with healthcare regulations. Beyond meal service, Food Service Workers are responsible for delivering stock supplies, serving guests with exceptional customer service, replenishing food and supplies, completing sanitation tasks, and performing dish room duties. The position often interacts directly with patients and visitors, collecting payments for guest trays and handling cafeteria transactions as a cashier.

Additionally, Food Service Workers assist in setting up and serving meals for corporate retail facilities, catering events, and special dining outlets such as the Doctors Dining Room. They also contribute to the presentation and decoration of buffet and reception tables, enhancing the dining experience for patients and staff. This role requires the ability to perform independently across various food service responsibilities and train others, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.

Position pay ranges from $16.00 to $19.49 per hour depending on experience, reflecting Baptist Health's commitment to fair compensation aligned with industry standards. This opportunity offers a fulfilling career path in a respected healthcare system dedicated to excellence, employee growth, and impactful patient care.
