The Food Service Worker role at Baptist Health plays a vital part in supporting patient care by ensuring the delivery and preparation of meals meet the highest standards of quality, service, and safety. This position is responsible for preparing, assembling, and delivering patient meals, maintaining strict adherence to infection control and food safety protocols. The role extends to delivering stock supplies to patient floor kitchens, serving guests, and maintaining positive customer relations. Additionally, the Food Service Worker replenishes used foods and supplies, completes sanitation duties, and performs dish room responsibilities. Handling transactions for food sales as a cashier in the cafeteria and setting up and serving meals for various dining outlets such as corporate retail, catering, and the Doctors Dining Room are also key duties. The role requires flexibility and cross-training in multiple aspects of food service to support coworkers and contribute to the training of new staff members.

This position necessitates independence and reliability, ensuring that all functions related to food preparation and service are executed efficiently and safely. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Food safety certification required within 90 days of job entry
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience, preferably within food and nutrition

Job Duties

  • Prepare, assemble, and deliver patient meals in accordance with quality, service, infection control, and food safety standards
  • Delivers stock supplies to the patient floor kitchens
  • Serves guests, maintaining positive customer/guest relations
  • Appropriately replenishes used foods and supplies
  • Completes sanitation duties
  • Perform dish room duties as assigned, daily
  • Collects payments for guest trays
  • Handles transactions for food sales in the cafeteria, as a cashier, in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Sets up and serves meals for corporate retail, catering, Doctors Dining Room, and other dining outlets
  • Decorates buffet and reception tables as assigned
