The position available at Skokie Hospital, located in Skokie, Illinois, is for a Food Service Worker - Patient Services on a part-time basis. Candidates for this role must be available to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. The pay rate for this position is $17 per hour, with additional compensation for shift differentials and weekend work. The role is integral within the hospital and long-term care setting, where food service workers perform specialized duties related to the management and execution of patient diet orders. These workers act as vital liaisons connecting patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services to ensure the delivery of quality patient care through food services.

The Food Service Worker will assist the manager with food and meal preparation, maintain cash receipts and meal records, and support the completion of daily reports. Maintaining high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices is essential to this role. Specific responsibilities include preparing quality food and baked goods according to planned menus, understanding and facilitating meal inclusions, serving food in alignment with meal schedules and departmental policies, and ensuring the accurate and sanitary storage of food. Proper use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives, is expected.

The role also involves coordinating major cleaning activities for refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment, strictly adhering to all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage. Workers will maintain clean and organized work and storage areas and perform routine cleaning duties such as scrubbing counters, sanitizing steam tables, washing ware, and managing garbage collection sites. Physical demands associated with the role include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. The use of personal protective equipment and adherence to uniform policies are also required.
