Currently, Cal Poly Maritime Academy is seeking qualified candidates for part-time Food Service Worker positions. This role is integral to the Academy's campus dining services and plays a critical role in maintaining the smooth operation of food preparation and service areas. As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of food preparation, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and customer service are strictly followed. Your duties will include washing and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring ingredients accurately according to recipes, and assisting with cooking and serving food. You will also maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, handle inventory and supplies, and provide friendly, efficient customer service. This role requires prior experience in dishwashing, food preparation, and basic cooking, emphasizing teamwork and reliability.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepares prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables
  • Weighs and measures designated ingredients
  • Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards
  • Stores food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
  • Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment
  • Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service
  • Resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor
  • Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
  • Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
