Job Description
Brown County is a dedicated governmental entity committed to serving its community with a focus on health, safety, and social services. As part of its commitment, the County provides various public services including food and nutrition services to its residents, particularly in healthcare and community support settings. Recognized for its strong emphasis on accountability, professionalism, and community well-being, Brown County aims to foster a supportive and respectful environment for both its employees and the residents it serves. The County operates under strict regulatory standards and promotes continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery across all departments.
This particular role within Brown County focuses on a food and nutrition services position that is essential for maintaining the dietary needs and satisfaction of clients and residents. The position primarily involves ensuring adherence to client and resident diet cards, which specify nutritional and therapeutic food requirements. Beyond just food preparation, the role covers a wide range of tasks such as cleaning, dishwashing, food serving, and managing storeroom and related food service duties, ensuring a hygienic and efficient food service operation. The role demands attention to detail in following established menu plans, dietary alterations as guided by a dietitian, and maintaining the safety and sanitation of the kitchen and dining environments.
This is a part-time position scheduled for mornings from 7 am to 11 am, for three or four days per week, including every other weekend. This schedule allows for a work-life balance while providing critical support during peak meal preparation and serving hours. Candidates interested in this role should be prepared to handle physical demands such as lifting, standing for extended periods, and performing manual tasks related to food service and kitchen upkeep.
The role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about nutrition, food service, and customer interaction within a healthcare or community service context. While prior experience in food service is valuable, the position also welcomes those currently enrolled in high school or GED programs, highlighting Brown County’s inclusive employment approach. Certification such as ServSafe is preferred but not mandatory, offering opportunities for professional growth and credentialing within the job.
The position requires strong communication skills to interact meaningfully with clients and residents, ensuring each food service interaction is not just functional but also therapeutic and supportive. The incumbent will be responsible for upholding confidentiality standards concerning client and business information, a critical aspect in healthcare and public service roles.
In summary, this food and nutrition services role at Brown County is a blend of practical food service duties combined with the compassionate service of clients in a community-focused environment. It offers meaningful work that supports health and wellness in the community, suitable for individuals seeking part-time employment with the opportunity to contribute positively to public health and safety.
